CHCNAV RS3600D

Dual-frequency Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler

The RiverStar 3600D ADCP delivers high-accuracy performance across both shallow and deep water environments, making it well suited to Australia’s varied river systems and waterways. Its 9-beam configuration, combined with a 600 kHz central depth measurement, ensures reliable results across a wide range of conditions—from slow-moving streams to fast-flowing rivers and changing depths.

When paired with the CHCNAV APACHE 4 series USV, it streamlines field operations by requiring just a single vessel and remote controller, improving efficiency and safety on site. This makes it an ideal solution for hydrological surveying across Australia, from regional catchments to large-scale water management projects.

Benefits

The RS3600D measures only 12 cm in diameter and weighs 2 kg. Compatible with the APACHE 4 series USV, it can also be mounted on trimarans, cableway towing systems, motorized survey vessels, and channel buoys. Its versatility supports effective deployment across a wide range of hydrological survey applications.

ADCPs often struggle to provide accurate data in near-still water where flow velocities fall below 5 mm/s due to signal noise limitations. The RS3600D offers a minimum velocity measurement resolution of 1 mm/s, enabling precise data acquisition in low-velocity environments.

The RS3600D ADCP features a 9-beam design with dual current measurement frequencies of 1200 kHz and 3600 kHz, and a standard 600 kHz central depth measurement frequency. It supports both deep and shallow water surveys, as well as high and low flow rate conditions, delivering versatile operation in a single instrument.

The RS3600D ADCP automatically adjusts its measurement frequency based on water conditions, removing the need for manual assessment and adjustment. Its automatic measurement mode maximizes efficiency, reduces time spent on parameter settings, and allows operators to focus on on-site survey tasks

HydroProfiler for PC provides efficient and flexible data management for comprehensive hydrological analysis. EasySail for the CHCNAV APACHE 4 USV supports the output of flow summary tables, flow test records, and results tables, and includes one-click file transfer and code sharing to a computer.
